This article explains how to add a Visibility Filter to a section in your Custom Form.
Before You Begin
The following conditions must be met before adding a Visibility Filter:
- There must be at least two sections in the form — one section to be toggled, and one to do the toggling.
- The following field types can be used to toggle a section:
- Text field
- Choice field with a Custom choice type
- The field must have an ID set in order to appear in the selection list.
- The fields cannot be inside an Expanding Table.
- The fields must be outside of the section you are currently editing.
Part 1: Accessing the Form
Step 1. From the Configuration page, select Custom Forms.
Step 2. Select the form that you would like to edit.
Step 3. Select the Edit button.
Step 4. The Define Templates edit page for your form is displayed.
Part 2: Adding the Visibility Filter
Step 5. Select Add Section to add a Visibility Filter to a new section, or select an existing section to add a Visibility Filter.
Step 8. Select Add Visibility Filter.
Step 9. The Add Visibility Filter page is displayed.
Step 10. Select a field from the Field selection list.
📌 Note: The field you select is the field that will control the visibility of the section you are currently editing.
Part 3: Configuring the Filter Condition
Follow the steps below based on the type of field you selected in Step 10.
If you selected a Choice field:
Step 11. The current list of choices for the field will be displayed on the Add Visibility Filter page.
Step 12. Select the choice or answer you want the user to select in order for the section to be displayed.
💡 You can select more than one choice or answer if needed.
If you selected a Text field:
Step 13. A text box will be displayed for you to enter the value needed for the section to be displayed.
Step 14. Enter the text the user must provide in order for the section to appear.
📌 Note: This will only work for a single exact answer. For example, if you enter "1, 2" in the text box, the user must type that exactly. Entering "1" or "2" individually will not trigger the section.
Part 4: Saving and Confirming
Step 15. Select Save to save the Visibility Filter.
Step 16. The Visibility Filter icon will now appear on the section to confirm it has been applied.
Step 17. Select Save to save the section.
💡 Example: When a user answers Yes to the question "Is there a Jockey Pump?", the Visibility Filter will display the additional questions in the Jockey Pump Manufacturer section.
Step 18. Deploy the form to see the changes made.
