A Code Reference is used to to associate deficiencies on the Assets Form to the specific safety code that has been violated and thus created a deficiency on the inspection report. All Code References must include a Name and Year for identification.
During an inspection, when the inspector answers a Pass/Fail question with Fail, a deficiency is created and will be included in the Deficiency Summary on the corresponding report (once it has been submitted). Using Code References, you will be able to associate a deficiency on an inspection form to the safety code that has been violated and caused the failure. A description of the safety code will also be displayed in the Deficiency Summary on the report.
Code References can also be designated for use by State, Profile and Location using default settings. For example, if you have locations that adhere to different safety codes (locations in two bordering states for example), you could set the safety code references for Indiana to default to the State Default of Indiana. You could then assign the Illinois safety code references to the tests that adhere to the the other location in Illinois.
Note: In order to use Code References on your Custom Forms, you will need to have Custom Forms enabled on your account. Please keep in mind that both Code References and Custom Forms are features exclusively available to Platinum tier users.
